Blackshirts Rally From 18 Down to Stun Sussex Hamilton, 72–64

South's boys basketball team delivered one of its most impressive performances of the young season, storming back from an 18-point deficit to defeat the Sussex Hamilton Chargers 72–64 on Tuesday night. What looked like a runaway Hamilton victory quickly turned into a statement win for the Blackshirts, who dominated the second half on both ends of the floor.

Sussex Hamilton appeared in complete control early, at one point holding a 47–29 lead and entering halftime up 49–32. But Waukesha South refused to fold. Instead, they came out of the break with renewed energy, swarming defensively and attacking the basket relentlessly.

The turning point came with South trailing 59–51. From there, the Blackshirts unleashed a stunning 13-0 run, seizing their first lead of the game and sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Once they gained momentum, they never let it go.

The second half belonged entirely to Waukesha South. They outscored Hamilton 40–15 after halftime, suffocating the Chargers defensively while knocking down timely shots. Keegan DeGeorge and Isaiah Crawford powered the surge, scoring 10 points each in the second half as the Blackshirts flipped the game upside down.

DeGeorge finished with a game-high 26 points, including three clutch three-pointers that fueled South’s comeback. Jordan Garcia added 15, while Isaiah Crawford chipped in 12 points and a team-leading seven rebounds. Richie Leckie (10 points), De’Adrian Nichols (6), Lucas Ortega (3), and Luke Trendel (2) rounded out the scoring effort in what was a balanced offensive performance.

Efficient interior scoring proved to be a major factor. The Blackshirts shot 19-for-33 on two-pointers and connected on 5-of-15 from long range. Their aggressive style also earned them 37 free-throw attempts, with Jordan Garcia going 6-for-13 at the line.

Ball movement was another key to the victory, as Waukesha South recorded 13 assists on their 24 made field goals, highlighting their teamwork during the comeback.

In a game defined by grit and persistence, the Blackshirts showed poise well beyond the box score. Down big but never discouraged, Waukesha South authored a comeback to remember, one that could become a defining moment for their season.

The Blackshirts will look to build on this momentum as they start their conference slate versus Pius XI Catholic on Friday.
