Senior Night turned into a statement performance for the Blackshirts as they defeated cross-town foe Waukesha North 80-68 in a rivalry matchup filled with energy and momentum swings.

From the opening tip, South set the tone. The Blackshirts exploded for 50 first-half points and built a commanding 50-23 halftime lead. Junior Keegan DeGeorge led the charge with 17 first-half points, igniting four major scoring runs, 7-0, 8-0, another 7-0  burst, and a dominant 12-0 stretch that broke the game open.

South was sharp and aggressive in the first half. They shot 49% from two-point range (17-for-35), 44% from three (4-for-9), and 67% from the free-throw line (4-for-6). Defensive pressure fueled the offense, as the Blackshirts forced seven turnovers and turned them into eight points. Their work on the glass was equally important, grabbing 11 offensive rebounds and led to 10 second-chance points. Junior Jordan Garcia and Senior Isaiah Crawford each pulled down six first-half rebounds to help control possessions.

For the game, DeGeorge poured in 30 points and added five steals as part of the team’s eight total steals, which led to eight points off turnovers. Crawford delivered a big all-around performance with 11 points and 13 rebounds, anchoring South’s dominance in the paint. The Blackshirts controlled the boards with 44 total rebounds, including 15 offensive rebounds that produced 12 second-chance points overall.

South also shared the ball effectively, finishing with 16 assists on 30 made baskets, led by Garcia’s six assists. The team attacked the rim constantly, earning 29 free-throw attempts, with Junior Richie Leckie going 7-for-10 at the line on his way to 15 points. Additional scoring came from Garcia (8 points), Senior Luke Trendel (7), Junior DeAdrian Nichols (5), Junior Cal Stillman (2) and Freshman Lucas Ortega (2). Defensively, South added five blocked shots.

The second half was more of a grind. The Blackshirts shot 36% from two (9-for-25), 0-for-5 from three, and 52% from the line (12-for-23). They grabbed four offensive rebounds but converted them into just two second-chance points. DeGeorge still led the way with 13 second-half points, while Crawford added seven rebounds after the break. Although North mounted a 15-0 run after trailing 56-29 to cut the deficit, South’s dominant first half gave them enough cushion to close out the win.

On a night dedicated to honoring seniors, the Blackshirts delivered one of their most complete efforts of the season, fueled by defensive intensity, rebounding strength, balanced scoring, and explosive scoring runs earned them a memorable Senior Night victory.

The ‘Shirts look to keep momentum as they play Pius XI in the first game of the playoffs on Tuesday.
