The Rose of Treason

The South Blackshirt Players will perform the play The Rose of Treason, by James DeVita this Thursday through Sunday, November 4-6, at 7:00 p.m. each night, and November 7 at 2:00 p.m.

Directed by Allison Schamburek and Assistant Directed by Talani Silpao, The Rose of Treason tells the story of Sophie Scholl (Paxtyn Robarge from Waukesha North HS) and her brother Hans Scholl (Micah Liss) as they and their friends form the Nazi rebellion group, the White Rose. The play is based on a true story set in the 1940’s, and follows the siblings through their lives in Germany during the Holocaust.

To watch the play, you can either pre-order a ticket here or pay at the door with cash. South students with an ID can buy a ticket for $3, seniors/students for $5, and adults for $8. Concessions will be available and you can buy "Break-a-Leg" messages to support your friends and family in the cast and crew.

In preparing for the show, the cast and crew has done extensive research to ensure the best representation of these historical figures and their stories. This included reaching out to The White Rose Association to receive English translations of the six leaflets created by the White Rose to inform the citizens of Germany of what had been happening in their country, as well as biographies of the various members of the White Rose. These biographies will be available for viewing in the auditorium lobby throughout the show.

In the future, look forward to the Blackshirt Players’ production of High School Musical! Auditions will be December 2nd and 3rd, and performances will be March 3-6.
